Report Plan Suggestions
Toys “R” Us is the recipient at the managerial level of the human
resources department. The topic of this
report is a training program for their employees to take to reduce the amount
of customer complaints of bad service at the local stores. The purpose of this report is to convince
them to sign up for a new customer service-training program for their local stores
that deal with the general public.
Potential resources for a report can be the website for the
recipient, the product or other aspect of the report. This can provide a lot of valuable
information that can be used in the report, for instance what they are
currently using now and why your idea would be better. A method for gathering information that may
provide support for another student’s report would be to do an initial general
search and then narrow it down to the information that seems helpful. Then collect this to either a file that allows
you to go back to it when writing the report.
Collaborative Writing
I once had to complete an assignment with a classmate that we were
assigned to by the teacher. It was not a
complicated assignment for two people, but it ended up being a very negative
experience for me. This was because they
did not follow through on their part. I
ended up having to complete the whole thing as I did not want to get a bad
grade on it, and both portions needed to be done to do the other. If I had to do this again, I would not want
to be assigned to someone. If I had this
same experience start to happen again, rather than do the work all by myself, I
would talk with the teacher. I would let
them know that my partner is not cooperating, and either ask for a new partner
or have them deal with the person. It
was very stressful.
I think that if I had to do this again with a partner that
actually participated that I would enjoy it more. It would not be very successful as a
collaboration if I had to write it all myself again. To ensure that would not happen I would be
more proactive, rather than just passively take on the whole project.
Report Plan
The recipient of the report will be the
large chain of Toys “R” Us, which also includes, Babies R Us and a few other brands. According to the Toys “R” Us website (2011),
“Merchandise is sold in 873 Toys“R”Us and Babies“R”Us stores in the United
States and Puerto Rico, and in more than 600 international stores and over 140
licensed stores in 35 countries and jurisdictions” (para. 1). The department of this organization that will
be the one to go over a recommendation of this type of program is Human
Resources Management. The topic of this
report is a new customer service- training program for individuals that meet
with the public. The purpose of the
report is to inform them of this new customer service -training program that
creates each individual employee into a public relations superstar for their
company giving customers the service that they deserve when visiting their
store helping to eliminate customer complaints.
Potential
resources that will be needed for support in this report is information about
the training program itself, how successful it is, and demonstrate the need
that the company has for new training based on consumer complaints that can be
easily found online. One such complaint
on ConsumerAffairs.com from 2011 reads, “I went straight to the front desk and
two women acted as they were busy for 15 minutes. With no customers around and
not one acknowledgment that I was there” (para. 1). This complaint then goes on to describe more
of the customer service nightmare that they went through. One of the best methods to gather information
for this topic will be to use their websites for information on their company
and the world of social media and complaint websites for examples of how upset
individuals are about their company. In
this tight economy, every upset customer is a potential for more lost sales.
In order to write
the best report, making sure to have good evidence as to why they can benefit
from having this customer service program will help to increase the chance that
they will go with it. In order to
evaluate the best evidence, it has to be hard hitting and really make the point
easy to see. For instance, a complaint
board showing a large number of complaints related to customer service or
evidence that their sales had dropped can go a long way towards helping with
this. The results of the report will
hinge on how well written and how apparent it is that this will fill their need
for better training.
