Charles Martin a 29 year-old American graduated with a major in African studies.Hydro generation company sent him to Uganda for a new dam project. In Uganda his main responsibilities was, get support from local people, start a office for the project work, hire local people as well as foreign expert.In particular, Manager Green was concerned about Martin’s lifestyle, some of his business practices, and his participation in Ugandan tribal rituals. Green worried that Martin’s practices were counter to both HG’s corporate culture and methods of operating elsewhere, that some of his actions bordered on the unethical, and that some might be illegal under U.S. law.Click here for more on this paper.......
Most of the people in Uganda speak their local language. The communication is very important when dealing with business, especially in a foreign country like Uganda.therefore dealing with Ugandan people would be difficult.
There are many religions in Uganda. when dealing business in Uganda, it is important to know about their religions and their beliefs. religion has a major role in Uganda. It is quit important to religious views in order to avoid any kinds of discrimination.
Nepotism is a prat of Ugandan culture.Nepotism
reduces morale for employee in terms of supervision of high-level executives by relatives and granting promotions which are given unjustifiably to a relative.its if difficult to deal with nepotism in business.. Martin received a degree in African studies,So he definitely understood the culture of Uganda and attitudes of Ugandan people. It really helped him to make more connections with the local people. Martin’s attitude was more friendly , he adapted to the Ugandan culture and even lived like them. Uganda is a corrupted country ,so foreign company's has to pay more to get their works done. Martin understood this fact. He was always ready to pay Little extra or tips. In helped H.G company to get done their work on time. Without Martin's attitude , H.G companies operation would move slowly.
