Remember, you must write 2 different essays for this assignment. Here is the list of works that you can use for your midterm essays:

1. You must answer TWOof the following essay questions listed below (#1-#7). Each essay will be

Essay questions should be answered in full essay format (use five paragraph model as guide) with    one  
clear strong thesis guiding your argument. Each prompt is broad; however, your thesis should be
narrow and focused. There is no need to summarize the text, but you should refer to specific examples
within each text.    Using MLA format, you should clearly cite three texts for each answer   . Refer to  
the Timeline for links to resources on MLA format. Remember, proofread for grammar and spelling
and clearly indicate which number you answer. No outside sources are necessary.    Remember   : You  
need to run your document (containing both essays) through turnitin.com. Then, type the originality
report at the end of your document, after your Works Cited. Finally, upload it to WebStudy as a .doc

1. Examine the parent-child relationships. Are they harmful or beneficial? Do these
relationships involve a learning process?
2. Examine the role of xenia. How do these acts help or hurt the characters and serve to
advance the plot?
3. Examine the theme of identity. Whose identities are concealed, and when/how are they
revealed?
4. Examine the role of the gods and their interaction with the mortals. Are the gods beneficial
or harmful? How do the gods appear in the works? (Remember:  Gilgameshdeals with

6. What do these works say about the qualities that a ruler should possess? Which of these
