No because we like to monitor and assess our country along with the many different cultures and races it contains. If we got rid of that little box on the forms we fill out our government wouldn’t be able to access information about the different race groups along with keep a general population. People are not only grouped by their racial background but by their religion, material status and many other little boxes to check.
The augment for discontinuing is justified and based off perceived biological and background indicators. The argument is there is no real scientific background for this kind of grouping because race is a social idea. If scientist don’t believe that race is a logical avenue for grouping a population than why does medicine use it as a heighten risk factor for diseases?

Generally I don’t like stereotypes so to create a positive image from a negative stereotype seems impossible. The opposite actually makes more since to me. As an American I stereotyped by others and a few of the ideas are quite negative (materialistic, racist, violent and reckless) but we are also seen as hardworking, confident and caring. So yes, but there will always be a negative connotations with the positive image. I am pretty sure that PR gurus could do wonders!

Race is a classification system that is used to categorize us into large and distinct populations by anatomical, cultural, ethnic, genetic, geographical, historical, linguistic, religious, and/or social groups. I don’t think there will ever be a time that racial classification system will no longer be used in this country since it is used for many different reasons, for example it’s being used for disease research, profiling people for safety, employment; assign individuals to different ethnic groups and etc. I think it should be discontinued because we should count humans as humans not as different ethnic backgrounds, or where they are from and further more employment should be based on who is more qualified for the job not because the company needs to hire someone from a different ethnic background to meet their quota. Research should be based on genetic. If racial classification system were to be removed and people start respecting each other, I believe racism would also be removed from this country.

I do believe that in many cases it is possible to convert negative stereotype into positive image. It would take a lot for this negative image to change into a positive. We stereotype everyone and everything, for example we stereotype movie stars based on the movies they play, we do the same when we meet someone for the first time, we stereotype different countries, different religions, different cultures, and etc. The only way we can accomplish this change is by education. We need to educate people not to stereotype, not to judge people based on their color, ethnicity, religion, or culture, because stereotype often leads to prejudice and discrimination.
