Brainstorming–there is brainstorming material in the OneNotes where students work in groups thinking of ideas. The ideas should come from the students or any research they do, not the teacher.
Sources–students find these themselves(you should have these already from Module 2)
There is the evaluation material which should guide you away from unreliable sources.
Referencing–do this yourselfusing the APA checklist which you should refer to.
Check, check and recheck your References -Remember the marks you lost for simple misspelling/capitalization in the References in earlier writing assessments?
How will my teacher help me in the assessment?
Your teacher will help you in all aspects of the assessment through the materials in this OneNote.

Sometimes you will need to use the exact words from a source.
This is called Quotation.
Highlight the Quotation in this paragraph:
Quarries produce a huge amount of dust and noise. According to an article in The National, 600 people die each year because of the air pollution caused by quarries. Asthma is the number one problem, and it is the young who are especially vulnerable (Zacharis, 2010). There are many examples of this around the world and here in the UAE. As an article in The Nationalexplains, “Aisha Obaid, 36, a mother of 12 children between the ages of six months to 18 years, said her older children had no respiratory problems when they were small but in the past five years, it has become impossible for her younger children to play outside” (Zacharis, 2010). People’s lives are far more important than building projects. It is clear that there need to be tighter regulations on quarries, and quarries need to be checked and closed if they do not follow the regulations.
Look at the quotation and answer the questions:
1. What comes beforethe quotation?
2. What formatis this? The National
3. What punctuationis used to show these words are not the author's own words?
4. What comes afterthe quotation?
5. Where does the full-stopcome?
6. Whydo we use quotations?

dangerous, such as if there is an oil spill in the Arctic ocean it would be extremely hard to clear up because oil does not disperse in cold water and would make any clean-up very difficult
(Greenpeace International, 2010).
.
Paraphrase 3:
According to Greenpeace, the hazards of drilling for oil in the Arctic are huge because oil leaked into almost freezing water takes much longer to spread out than in hotter oceans (Greenpeace International, 2010).
When you have chosen the best paraphrase… what is the problem with the other two?

Pronouns are used to help the organisation of the paragraph and to avoid repeating the same word.
Keeping animals in zoo's can be very educational, because animals can help people learn a lot. By going to zoos we can understand animals and animal behaviour.
To avoid this repetition, we can use pronouns:
